What is Email Marketing – Advantage and Disadvantage?

Email Marketing is the use of email service to send information or offer a product/service to a set of targeted customers.  Email marketing is used to improve relationship between a business and its customers as well as to gain new customers and repeat business.   There are both advantages and disadvantages of email marketing, which are the following:

Advantages of Email Marketing

  • It is the most cost effective way to contact prospects and customers, since it is way cheaper than the traditional mail marketing and faster
  • Due to its efficiency, it can have a much larger impact on immediate sales and long-term relationships
  • Return on investment can be tracked easily

Disadvantages of Email Marketing

  • Email can be identified as spam, which will be filtered by the email server
  • Design might not come as desired, due to the varying servers and computer settings
  • Monthly plan can cost about $150 if there are more than 10,000 subscribers

When a campaign is done correctly, email marketing can be an extremely effective and powerful marketing technique.
